December 2013 Newsletter

From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

November was a busy month with the final 5 Official Visits being held.  They were all terrific.  The final one was District 16 – my home District.  It was really special. Brother Otto and I want to thank all the District Deputies for all of their hard work in making each Official Visit a time to remember.  We will cherish all of the hugs, kisses, honorary memberships, gifts, special programs, great meals, and wonderful fellowship with each member!  In November I also was asked to bring Greetings at the Daughters of the Nile Banquet honoring their Supreme Queen.

Please see the information in the newsletter about the upcoming Central Section Workshop on January 18 and the LA/Texas Mardi Gras Friendship Exchange on January 25 “ both in Lake Charles.

Many of you have remarked about the Bible Marker that was used at the Official Visits.  My Dad, Virgil McNary, presented it to my Chapter, Central Star #23, many years ago as a gift of gratitude for the members supporting me and for being so kind to him.  So it is very special and he has been with me at every Official Visit.  Also, the Baton carried by the Grand Marshal is one that I purchased and presented to my Chapter after I served as Grand Marshal in 2007.  The names of two other members who were Grand Marshals are inscribed on the name plate. Sister Carmen Higgins name will be added soon.

Chapter Secretaries, please report all pertinent information to the District Chairman concerning our projects by December 31.  Also turn in the names of those in your chapter who have earned the Personal Achievement Award.  The District Chairmen need time to complete their reports to the State Chairmen.

Disaster Assistance Projectâ“ Pop Tabs and Cans â“ Please redeem if possible and turn in the monies to your Chapter Secretary.  Again, thanks for all your help with the Peppermint Candy sales benefiting Shrinerâs Transportation.  Please turn all monies in to your Chapter Secretary so they can forward to the Grand Secretary.

Mailing Label Program “ Hope you enjoy using the labels.  Thank you for your support of this important program that benefits LA Eastern Star!

Please consider making your Honorariums and Memorials to our OES Projects this year:  Alzheimers, Cancer, ESTARL, Disaster Assistance and Shrinerâs Transportation.

Continue to submit your items of interest to the OES Friendship Line at the new e-mail:  laoesfriendship@aol.com

Please remember those members with health problems or who have lost loved ones recently.  This holiday season may be particularly difficult for them.

Brother Otto and I wish each of you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!  Enjoy each moment and may each of you have your Christmas wish granted!

Star Love and Lilies For You!
