From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

We made it through the month of June. What a busy month it has been. The Worthy Grand Patron

and I have been visiting chapters. We have surprised several by attending your chapter. Thank you for the courtesy and kindness that you have shown us.

The Official Visits have begun. Thank you District Deputy Grand Matrons and all the members for making these visits memorable. We thank you for your courtesy, hospitality, and wonderful friendships.

Congratulations to Brother Gerald Houston, AGP, as he is now official. He was installed at the Special Session held on May 30 in Lake Charles. Thank you to Sister Linda Lamkin, Brother George Barker, and Brother Ed Lamkin for the beautiful ceremony. The Grand Officers served in their stations, and I was very proud of you. You have experienced a small portion of Grand Chapter, and was a part of the history of having a Special Session of Grand Chapter.

The first Official Visit was held on May 30th at Ruth Chapter # 16 in Lake Charles. The day was special,

the food was great and the hospitality couldn’t have been be any better. Thank you to the Wilkinson’s for the wonderful ice cream and cobbler social.

The Worthy Grand Patron and I brought greetings at the Rainbow Grand Assembly at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bossier City Eastern Star was well represented. There were eight Grand Officers in attendance, as well as several Past Grand Matrons, Past Grand Patrons, members and one very special guest. Sisters Jane McDaniel, PGM, and Carolyn Blount, PM, accompanied ten young ladies from the newly formed assembly. Ill bet there will be stories to tell. The girls were very proficient in their work. Congratulations to Martha Bea Woods, Grand Organist. She was the recipient of the Louisiana Spirit of Rainbow Award. We appreciated the courtesies that the Rainbow girls gave us, and I hope that your chapter remembered to honor them during the month of June. They really do appreciate the support of the Order of Eastern Star.

Thank you to Sister Joye Denny, PGM, Chairman of Work and Ritual. She has been steadily scheduling the

District Workshops. One district reported 40 members attending. I hope that you are reminded of the work, or even learned some of the work, as you attend these workshops. They are for your district to become more

proficient in your work. Thank you to the other members of the Work and Ritual Committee that have been assisting with these workshops.

It is time to sign up for the Branson Show Extravaganza. You can send in your deposit, and pay it out monthly If you need information, please contact the Grand Secretary. If you have questions, please contact Nanette Gwaltney at 210-656-6668. She is ready to answer any of your questions.

We are to honor Rob Morris in the month of August. You can find information about him in the Ritual.

Dont forget about our projects. At each Official Visit, there will be a report from the State Chairman or District Chairman. We have the pendants ready for sale. They are $25.00 each and the money will be divided among the projects. Brother John Belanger has nice bags available for $10.00 each. This money will go to Scottish Rite Learning Center in Baton Rouge. If you would like to sell some for your district, please see him. He is visiting several meetings. Cancer pins are available for $10.00. You can see Rejeanna and Trent Bonnette, Co State Chairmen of Cancer for these pins. The Cancer Luncheon is scheduled for October 17 at 11:30am at the Masonic Lodge on Horseshoe Drive in Alexandria.

Clarification: You must exemplify the Signs and Passes and Obligation at every meeting. Opening the chapter, or an initiation does not count as the Signs and Passes. In these instances the complete Signs and Passes are not exemplified. The Obligation should be repeated by the members. Only candidates will repeat the obligation during an initiation.

General Grand Chapter Triennium 2015:  We hope that you will be attending General Grand Chapter in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. If you would like information regarding the Triennium Session, check the General Grand Chapter website or contact the Grand Secretary. A social event honoring Bro. Harles Creech, PMWGP, and our General Grand Chapter Committee Members will be held in Pittsburgh. More information will follow.

A love offering will be collected and given to the honored members listed above at the breakfast to show them how proud we are of them, and how much we appreciate their service to our state through General Grand Chapter. Donations may be sent through your chapter to the Grand Secretary.

Enjoy the 4th of July. Fly your flag proudly!

With The Stars in the Sky and Star love,
