From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

The month of May is many things to many people. I always associate it with Mother's Day which we celebrate the second Sunday of the month. This is also the time when many of the flowers begin to share God's beautiful creations with us.

The DDGM meetings are continuing and many of the Schools of Instructions will begin. I encourage each of you to support the DDGM and the Grand Supervisors in your area by attending the meetings. I miss being at these as they are always special.

Mississippi Grand Chapter was held in Pearl, Mississippi. There were 36 who attended and a good time enjoyed by all. Several even took the opportunity to visit the Little Red School House which we all know is where Rob Morris taught.

Several important events will be taking place soon. On May 14, Brother Gerald and I look forward to seeing many of you at the Homecoming This is being held at the West Cenla Shrine Center in Leesville, (H. M. Stevens Blvd., Leesville)

Our official visits will begin on June 4 in Leesville. Then the race begins. There are a few dates that had to be changed because of conflicts, but those will be included closer to the time for those Official Visits.

Plans are being made for the Louisiana/Arkansas Exchange. This will be held in Shreveport at Creswell Masonic Temple on June 25, 2016 from 12:00-3:00. Let's turn out and get that boot back. Additional information for ordering tickets is included further in the letter.

Thought for the month: Thought is the blossom; language the bud; action the fruit behind it. -Ralph Waldo Emerson, writer and philosopher (1803-1882)

APPRECIATION:

We, the LA General Grand Chapter Committee Members and Special Appointee, would like to thank you for all the courtesies shown to us during "The Stars in the Sky" Session. Sister Kathy Warmack, Junior Past Grand Matron, thank you for including a banquet in our honor in your Grand Chapter plans. We so enjoyed the wonderful evening planned by Sister Terrie Castay, PGM and Sister Diane Smith, PGM - we felt so special! The tributes given to us by special friends was a highlight and something we will always remember. And we love the very personal gifts that were given to us. Many thanks to your committee members and to Lynn and Roy Bankston, PGM and PGP for the lovely musical program. Thank you also Sister Kathy for allowing us to give a report on each of our committee appointments so that the membership could learn a bit more about our goals, aims and duties.

Fraternally, John Wayne Harrist, PGP - Credentials, Linn McNary, PGM - Chairman of Heart, Mary Howell, PGM - Regenerative Medicine, Joy Beth Williams, PGM - Support Our First Responders, Jane McDaniel, PGM - Choir Director and DeLores Woods, PM - Hummingbird of the MWGM.

On behalf of the Baton Rouge Scottish Rite Childhood Speech and Language Center, Inc. I take this opportunity to extend our appreciation and thanks for your very kind and generous donation of $4,580.10. This donation will assist us in our efforts to provide new devices and other items that our Clinic Director needs to teach our children to speak properly as well as provide for the building and grounds maintenance.

We at the Scottish Rite are very proud of the progress that we are making in our effort to help children who have severe articulation disorders, neurological disorders, developmental delays, fluency problems, language disorders, and delayed onset of speech as well as some other problems. During the Calendar year 2015 the Center provided 338.5 hours of assistance to 20 individual children. These are children that may not have been able to receive help elsewhere.

WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE. Fraternally and Sincerely, Joe A. Stroud, Administrator

To my Eastern Star Sisters and Brothers; Your calls, texts, emails, and cards have meant so much to me during this time. My husbands illness and death occurred so quickly that I barely had time to grasp what was happening. Your support and love continue to help me deal with my grief. Thank you so much, Sandy Mask, PM, DDGM, District 7
