From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:
Dear Sisters and Brothers:
Well ... Tropical Storm Karen didnt dampen the fundraising efforts and fun of the events on Saturday and Sunday, October 5th and 6th. Over 125 people attended the XYZ Cancer Luncheon/Style Show/Auction at the Acacia Shrine Center in BR (joint project with Rainbow Girls) and raised $2,489 for Cancer Research. Many thanks to Jane McDaniel, PGM and her committee for such a successful event! Thanks to all that attended, modeled, purchased an auction item or purchased a prayer bottle in honor of or memory of someone. Your Chapter will get credit for any tickets or prayer bottles sold or auction items donated and purchased. A $100 donation was given. Please let Jane know if you gave this donation so credit can be given to your chapter. A great time was had by the 100+ members and families at the Membership Event at the Exotic Wildlife Center in Folsom, LA. Thanks to Debbie Alford and Karen Porter, Membership Co-Chairs, and Tammi Williams for all the hard work in organizing and fixing food for this fun event. We were blessed with great weather and seeing so many beautiful animals. Thank you for supporting these two important projects and having fun in the process! Thanks also to the members that provided desserts at both of these events.
The Northern Section Work and Ritual Workshop was held on Saturday, October 12th at Lee Emmett Thomas #198 in Delhi. The workshop was very informative and the Chapter served lunch as a fundraiser.
Many of us traveled to several Grand Chapter Sessions: WEST VIRGINIA (Linn, Pamela Gill, AGM; George Barker, GGCCM; Wanda Hagmeyer and Wanda Lindgren, Grand Representative), ALABAMA (eight attended including five Grand Officers and Faye McDowell, Grand Representative), NEW MEXICO (Linn, Diane Smith, GGCCM and "Ma") and OKLAHOMA (22 attended including ten Grand Officers)! It was a wonderful opportunity to greet old friends and make new ones!
