From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

The month of November brings Thanksgiving. I hope you will start to give thanks early in the month. We have so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for all the prayers, cards, and calls during my recent illness. God had me in His hands and I give Him thanks daily. What a wonderful season, with fall colors, decorations, and family gatherings. Most chapters will have a Thanksgiving dinner, and I hope you feel a love for the Order and each other.

The month of October started with a wonderful Official Visit of District 6 in Logansport, on October 3rd. The entertainment was outstanding and I am sure everyone enjoyed the production of My God, performed by a great group of Nuns. Thank you Dora Mestler, DDGM, for all your work. Well done!

On October 4th, everyone enjoyed the Official Visit of District 8 in Many. This is the home district of our AGM, Kathy Warmack. The salads were great, the decorations were wonderful, and the Grand Organist, Lani Smith, provided great music. The DDGM, Mona Drake, accomplished all her goals. Thank you Mona.

On October 11th, District 5 had their Official Visit in Delhi. Here the entertainment was the Picket Sisters, a wonderful group of ladies. The program ended with a special appearance of The Ding-a-Ling Sisters. Thank you Sister Pat Copes, DDGM, for a great evening and visit. I know your District is proud of you.

On October 16th we attended a Courtesy Visit at Esther Chapter No. 26, in Leesville. We were welcomed with such excitement, we were glad to be there. The food was great, and the meeting went very well. Good work, Esther No. 26.

The last Official Visit of the month was on October 24th in Jena. We were greeted with much OES love and the fellowship was great. Sister Janice Daniel, DDGM, did an awesome job of leading her district to another successful visit.

On October 25th ten of us joined Beth Cuevas, State Chairman for Alzheimers, in Lake Charles. We were the Stars Light the Walk team at the Walk to End Alzheimers. Funds in excess of $400 were raised.

There were two out-of-state Grand Chapters this month. Our WGP, George Wilkinson and his lovely wife represented Louisiana in Alabama. Then 12 of our members went to Oklahoma Grand Chapter. Those present were the WGP, AGM, GC, Grand Adah, two PGMs, and six members. A good time was had by all.

January 31st is the deadline for your donations to be received by the Grand Secretary to be counted for our year. So, make sure you send your project money to the Grand Secretary. If you need more Project Pins Danneda Perkins has them at each Official Visit. She can be reached at 318-544-9144.

Quote of the Month: No living creature can laugh except man. Trees may bleed when they are wounded and beasts in the field will cry in pain and hunger, yet only I have the gift of laughter and it is mine to use whenever I choose. I will cultivate the habit of laughter. Og Mandino

Keep Your Lights Shining with Star Love,

APPRECIATION:

To all the chapters and individual sisters and brothers who phoned, sent cards and attended my mothers funeral, words cannot express my families appreciation. Everyone knew that the Eastern Star was there for us. My son-in-law summed it up when he said how lucky we are to have such a devoted organization. We are humbled by your love. Lois and James Premeaux

The Louisiana Rainbow Girls appreciate your help in all of our endeavors. We thank you for your financial support and help to us throughout the year. Mickayla Blue, GWA and Debbi Cocran-Hock, Supreme Deputy.
