November 2015 Newsletter

*********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

As we begin to slow down in our travels, the holiday season will begin. Psalm 100:4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. There are several Bible verses reminding us to give thanks, but this is one of my favorites. In November, we will celebrate Thanksgiving. Remember to count your blessings.

Grand Matrons for everything that you and your members did for the preparation of the Official Visit. Im thankful for you and each member that was dedicated to attend the Official Visits.

On October 9 10th, four Grand Officers and four members attended The Star Light of Alabama Grand Session in Birmingham, Alabama. Brother Charlie Sibley, Grand Representative of Alabama in Louisiana gave the response at the Grand Representative Luncheon. I was honored to give the response at the Main Banquet. As always, it was great to see our OES friends.

We have attended several honor nights and courtesy visits. Thank you for honoring the Grand Officers and other members at these visits. You made us feel welcome and special. Thank you for allowing us to fill the stations at your meetings. There will be two more courtesy visits Fair Park #18 in Shreveport and Baton Rouge #163 in Baton Rouge. Information is available in the Dates to Remember in this Newsletter.

It was an honor for Bro. Rocky and I, along with fourteen other members to attend the Caring and Sharing meeting in Coushatta. The food was delicious and the fellowship was wonderful. Thank you to the members that spoke on behalf of a project. We are thankful for the donations that we received for our projects.

The Cancer Luncheon on October 17th was a huge success.  Thank you Sister and Bro. Trent Bonnette for all of your preparations.  Thank you Sister Kay Dozier for the extravagant Style Show.  Rejeana

There were  75 members present.  Thank you to Bro. George Barker, GGGCM - Cancer for representing our State with this project of the MWGM. The love offering collected at the luncheon was $860.98 and $786.30 was received, after expenses, from the luncheon ticket sales which allowed a donation of $1647.28 for Cancer Research.

On October 18 – 20th, nine Grand Officers, one Past Grand Matron and five members attended the Return of the Star Pilots Oklahoma Grand Session in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Brother Harvey Gill, Grand Representative of Oklahoma in Louisiana and Sister Pamela Gill, PGM assisted in the program. We always enjoy our trip to Oklahoma.

December 12th will be the Southern Section Work & Ritual Workshop. It will be held in Houma from

10 12:30 p.m. More information is included below in the "Dates to Remember". District Deputy Grand Matrons, please encourage your members to attend. Grand Officers, and Past Grand Matrons and Past Grand Patrons will fill the stations.

As 2015 comes to a close, we will begin to prepare for Grand Chapter.Secretaries, please get your project money to the Grand Secretary. She will close out her books on January 31st.

District Chairman, please get your report to the State Chairman. They will begin to prepare their reports beginning in January. Please have your reports to the State Chairman before January 15, 2016.
