October 2013 Newsletter

From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

Where did September go! We enjoyed the hospitality in four Districts for their Official Visits. DDGMs I cant tell you how much I and Brother Otto appreciate all of your efforts! The LA/MS Friendship Exchange was just great! Thank you Laura Wall, PGM, and your committee for the attention to so many special details the decorations, food, gifts, and entertainment! New friendships were made and old friendships were renewed! Several MS Grand Officers, including the WGM, stayed over for the District 18 Official Visit in Pearl River what an honor! Hope everyone enjoyed the fellowship and lunch at the Mid Year Association Meetings at the Wesley Center in Woodworth. Brother Ottos and my Fun Trip on Amtrak to Chicago was soooo much fun! We toured the Sears Tower, the Shedd Aquarium, the Navy Pier and so much more. But the best part was just being together with good friends.

October usually brings cooler weather. Hope we have some for our two fun events on the 5th and 6th. I m looking forward to seeing many of you at the XYZ Cancer Luncheon on Saturday the 5th at the Acacia Shrine in Baton Rouge and at the Membership Event on Sunday the 6th at the Exotic Wildlife Center in Folsom, LA. Thank you for supporting these two important projects and having fun in the process!

We will also have our first Work and Ritual Workshop in the Northern Section on Saturday, October 12, at Lee Emmett Thomas #198 in Delhi at 11:00 a.m. You can still submit questions or topics to Janet Shook, PGM at WGM1999@yahoo.com. The workshops are for you! The District 6 Official Visit will also be held in Delhi on Saturday, October 26.

Many of us will travel to several Grand Chapter Sessions in West Virginia, Alabama, New Mexico and Oklahoma! Come join us on an adventure if you can!

I so appreciate the Chapters that are opening in Long Form as requested - it just takes a few more minutes. It is so lovely to hear the beautiful words of our Ritual. Please encourage this, but if a substitute doesn’t

know the long form, then at least open each Star Point with the sign and pass. Also, it is part of the Ritual that we have an Opening March. The Chapter honors their Worthy Matron when the officers march in and escort her to the East.

Continue to submit your items of interest to the OES Friendship Line at the new e-mail: laoesfriendship@aol.com

Again, thanks for all your help with the Peppermint Candy sales benefiting Shriners Transportation. Please turn all monies in to your Chapter Secretary so they can be forward to the Grand Secretary. \ Please

remember to make your Honorariums and Memorials to our OES Projects this year: Alzheimers, Cancer, ESTARL, Disaster Assistance and Shriners Transportation.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!\ May the Ghosts and Goblins be kind to you!

Star Love and Lilies For You!
