From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Well, nineteen of us had a great trip to California. We flew into San Francisco, had a short tour of the city, checked in the hotel and then walked down to Union Square. The next day we toured Carmel and Monterey and visited the Aquarium there. Day 3 was Yosemite National Park, we hiked a little there and saw the Bridal Falls. Day 4 was lots of riding on the bus to get to Napa Valley, the landscape was amazing, so many different produce farms. Day 5 we loaded onto the Gourmet Express Napa train and had a delicious lunch on board and ended at the Castello di Amorosa winery (its in a real castle). Day 6 we went to the Benziger winery and we got to see how they get the grapes off the stems, cleaned and ready for juicing. This winery was in a volcano. It was not time to harvest the grapes as yet so the miles and miles of vines we saw were heavily loaded with fruit. Next was a short hike in Muir Woods and saw the Redwood Pine trees. That night we saw a very funny play Something Rotten! and the writer of it is from Baton Rouge. Day 7 we all toured Alcatraz, it was amazing, then Fisherman wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge. Some of us got to walk part way up before heading to our farewell dinner and the tour of Treasure Island and the Cable Car ride. The food tasted different, but good, just ask Kitty White, it was not the Louisiana southern cooking we are used to. It was a great experience for all us.

Recap of Official visit: “A Time to be a Doer is when we cheerfully do the things that need doing with or without being asked. A Time to be a Guide is when members need a little help to accomplish the goals in the chapter. We must use the talents God gave each of us to do our part for the chapter with a positive attitude. We never know who is watching our behavior, it could make a big difference in someones life. A Time for Fun and A Time to be Serious” there are times in the Chapter when we need to be serious about the work and learning the Ritual. Then there are times for fun in the chapter as well. Part of our meetings are for social enjoyment, lets keep out the negatives and reinforce the positives.

A special thank you to District 10 for hosting the Mid-Year meetings. Everything went very well and the lunch you provided was excellent. I do appreciate all that was done for us!!

Well, we almost did it!! We had 42 members signed up for the Four-State Exchange, Arkansas has 31 and Texas beat us by 2 they had 44. Those that went had a good time and saw a good part of Oklahoma and heard about the history for that area. Next year Texas will host it, hope many more can go to that one.

Chapter Secretaries and Treasurers Workshops are going very well. There is a lot of information being handed out. Any of the other members that want to know about the workings of your chapter can attend also. Check the times for each Official visit.

There is a season for everything under the sun even when we cant see the sun.

God Bless, I love you all,

Debbie Poche

Worthy Grand Matron
