From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

It is hard to believe that it is September already!!! Many chapters that are dark in the summer will be getting back into a routine. The Grand Family hasn’t slowed down! We had 30 of our members attend Texas Grand Chapter including 13 Grand Officers, two GGCCM’s and two PGM’s. Thanks to all who attended! We had four great Official Visits in August. Otto and I brought greetings at the Amaranth Court and I attended the Installation of the new Court of Officers. I was honored to attend the Kenner Masonic Kids Fair – a wonderful community event. The Eastern Star Chapters in the New Orleans area hosted a booth and provided balloons, lemonade and lots of giveaways. Members from Louisiana also attended the Mississippi Little Red Schoolhouse Annual Picnic. It was a great time of fellowship with Mississippi members and to see the Schoolhouse – Birthplace of OES!

September is busy with four Official Visits, several Courtesy Visits, the LA/MS Exchange, Mid-Year Association Meetings and our Fun Trip to Chicago by way of AMTRAK and other District events. On September 14 we are hosting the LA/MS Friendship Exchange in Spring Creek (near Kentwood). And on September 21 the Mid-Year Meetings of various Associations will be held at the Wesley Center in Woodworth (see details below).

In planning for the Upcoming Workshops, please submit questions or topics that you would like to have addressed. The Workshops are for you, the membership. Please send to Janet Shook, PGM at WGM1999@yahoo.com. The Northern Section Workshop will be held Saturday, October 12 at Lee Emmett Thomas # 198 in Delhi at 11:30 am.

Continue to submit your items of interest to the OES Friendship Line at the new e-mail: laoesfriendship@aol.com

Again, thanks for all your help with the Peppermint Candy sales benefiting Shriner’s Transportation.

See information below about the XYZ Cancer Luncheon to be held in Baton Rouge on Saturday, October 5. Tickets are available and you can now order your Prayer Bottle in memory or honor of a loved one. Please help support this fundraiser for the Cancer Project. Also, see information about the Statewide Member and Family Event at the Exotic Wildlife Center in Folsom, LA on Sunday, October 6.

Please remember to make your Honorariums and Memorials to our OES Projects this year: Alzheimer’s, Cancer, ESTARL, Disaster Assistance and Shriner’s Transportation.

Star Love and Lilies For You!
