From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

August was another great month for Eastern Star. With the beginning of a new school year, we prepare for fall. It is a time to start again as we work to make our world a better place. At the end of each day, if we feel down, there is always a new day tomorrow. I hope you will remember to let your lights shine everywhere you go. Our lights may affect people we dont even know.

The month started with a great Official Visit in District 14. It was very well attended and everyone did a great job. Thank you Carmen Higgins, DDGM, for such a great job We ended the evening with an ice cream social in honor of our AGC, Debbie Poche

Several members accompanied the WGP to Texas Grand Chapter to attend the opening ceremonies. Others accompanied me to the closing and installation. Texas is always great to visit and we have many friends there.

Some of us attended the Amaranth Grand Court where I brought greetings from the Eastern Star. The Ladies and Sir Knights of the Amaranth do wonderful work and raise funds for diabetes.

On August 22nd we attended the Official Visit to District 3. The District members fed us a wonderful dinner, the entertainment was a blue grass band, and the decorations were perfect. Thank you, Nancy Hurst, for a job well done.

We are looking forward to a much busier month in September. I hope to see many of you at the MS/Louisiana Friendship Exchange on September 13th. There are four Official Visits and several Courtesy Visits scheduled for September.

Quote of the Month:I have never heard anything about the resolutions of the apostles, but a good deal about their acts. Og Mandino
