From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:

By the time you receive this letter, we will have completed most of the Official Visits.  The attendance has been great.  Members of each district have shown their willingness to work toward keeping our Order going strong.  Due to the flooding the meetings for Districts 6 and 11 are being rescheduled.  They will probably be toward the end of September.  As soon as dates are confirmed with the DDGM, a notice will be sent on the LA Friendship line and to the secretaries.  Please help us get the information to those who do not have email.

During this month the MS/LA Exchange will take place on Sept. 10 at the First Baptist Church in Natchez.  The MOST IMPORTANT event in September will be the 4-State Exchange.  LA is hosting the visitors from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas on September 16-17. We need our members to be present to welcome these visitors.  Lets show true LA hospitality. If you have not ordered your tickets for this event, please contact Linda Lamkin, PGM, Ticket Coordinator immediately.  We must let the caterer know how many will be attending.

Tragedy has again struck our state in the form of much flooding.  Many of our members as well as others have lost their homes.  Please contribute in whatever way you can to assists these people.  For our members, immediate help can be received through Disaster Assistance with additional assistance by applying to Fraternal Assistance.  For immediate help the persons to contact are Linda Lamkin, PGM, northern section; Richard Shaw, PGP, central section; and James Premeaux, PGP, southern section.

A big THANK YOU to all who assisted in preparing and carrying out the GGCCM luncheon.  This was a new way of raising money for them.  I was pleased with the turn out and feel it was successful.  At the present, there is not a final total on the amount raised, but when that information is received it will be passed on to the members.

Appreciation:

THANK YOU SISTERS AND BROTHERS!!!

We so appreciate the members from across the state that supported the GGCCM luncheon and silent auction fundraiser on Saturday, August 20 organized by our Worthy Grand Matron, Sister Rovenia McDonald.  You helped us raise $2,550 for our 3 charities.  Many thanks to those that cooked and served lunch, Sandy Rogers for organizing the auction items and to all who donated auctions items and then purchased something!  It was a fun event.

Also, many thanks for the donations of cleaning supplies, paper goods and household items for those in need following the devastating floods in the Baton Rouge area.  We filled 3cars with all the items.  And Mary appreciates you purchasing her bears and then donating them to kids that lost everything
