September, 2017 Newsletter
From the Desk of the Worthy Grand Matron:
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Wow, did you enjoy the eclipse?? It is awesome to see the wonders of God!!
September already and the season changes again. How its time for school, football, and donâ forget the Circus in Alexandria!!
I have failed to mention in the newsletter how awesome the Official visits are going and the support the members are giving their District Deputies. District 4 and District 9 have had the most in attendance and Dist. 4 had twenty (20) Past Grand Matrons and Past Grand Patrons.
Louisiana is getting excited about Eastern Star, we are having a lot of initiations going on over the state. We have a lot of community projects going on, bringing goodies to the First Responders in each area, food for the food banks, items for the school kids and many other good works. Let’s keep these new members interested in the work we do and the projects we have going on in the Chapter.
Recap of Official visit: “A Time for a Place called Eastern Star” In today’s world with so much craziness going on, Eastern Star is a safe place where we can come for relaxing, encouragement, inspiration and having fun with friends. We all have strengths and weaknesses, we all make mistakes. A gentle reminder for us all is, not to snip at each other, tell tales or gossip about each other or embarrass each other when mistakes are made. Remember we are family, we want the chapter meetings to be like home, safe, comfortable, and loving.
We had a great time at Texas Grand Chapter. We had eight Grand Officers, eight Past Grand Matrons and Patrons and about 6 other members. Thank you all for coming.
The Go Red Heart luncheon was stylin with the Heart Hats and dancing to the music, emceed by Diane Smith, PGM. Sister Karen Porter, state chairman for Heart and Linn McNary, GGCC Chairman for Heart did a great job planning it all. The Rainbow girls helped serve the lunch and they now know how much fun Eastern Stars have.
I hope those that went to the MS banquet and Little Red School House picnic had a good time and tell me about it when I get back from the fun trip to California. I will tell all about our fun trip in the next newsletter.
Chapter Secretaries and Treasurers, remember there is a Workshop for you at the Official visits. Any of the other members that want to know about the workings of your chapter can attend also. Check the times for each Official visit, they do vary.
There are again changes (not my fault) for the Courtesy visit to Fidelity Chapter #160 that honors the Grand Master and the WGM & WGP, is now Nov. 27th and the Official visit for District 11 is changed to Nov. 4th !!
“A time for courage is to stand up and speak; A Time for Wisdom is to sit down and listen.”
God Bless, I love you all,
Worthy Grand Matron

A BIG HEARTFELT THANK YOU!!!
My Heart is so happy!
to all who attended and helped with the GO RED HEART Luncheon on Saturday,
August 19 at the Shrine Center in Baton Rouge. Sister Diane Smith, PGM
got 15 members to decorate a hat with a heart theme and to model to a heart
themed song! Prizes were awarded!
Thanks to all that participated - all were good sports and the hats were really clever and showed a lot of imagination! Many thanks to Sister Karen Porter, PM who chaired the state Heart Committee. $1,500 was raised for the American Heart Association from the luncheon, silent auction and donations (still accepting those!). Note - These monies will stay in Louisiana.
Star Love, Linn McNary, GGCCM-Heart Chairman
